Six fire crews were needed to extinguish a fire at Idverde's warehouse in Warwick this weekend.

Crews were called to the fire at Princes Close Gardens off Stratford Road at 1pm on Saturday, March 26.

Firefighters were on site all afternoon tackling the blaze and then damping down the site.

Idverde was recently announced as the new contractor for Warwick District Council's new three-weekly bin collections which will begin in August 2022.

It is currently unclear how the fire began.

A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "Whilst on the training we were called away to take our Water Carrier to the large fire off Stratford Road in Warwick.

"Meanwhile the remaining crew were mobilised on the fire engine to attended Leamington Fire Station to provide strategic fire cover to the area.

"At 4.30pm the crew were sent as a relief crew to the incident in Warwick to relieve the crews who had been in attendance for many hours.

"The Kenilworth crew assisted the Fire Investigation Team and continued to damp down.

"We returned to station just after 7.30pm."
