Local Rotarians have purchased 3,000 donuts to held raise funds for Warwick District Foodbank.

Warwick Rotary Club was approached by student Josh Turner of Warwick School to purchase the sweet treats at the end of last year.

Josh returned to tell members how their £469 had bought the donuts from Morrisons, which were then sold to pupils at Warwick, Myton, Westgate and Aylesford schools before Christmas.

Sales of £2,300 were added to other funds enabling the students to donate £9,000 to Warwick Foodbank for a van to transfer supplies between their collection points.

Rotarians said they were were amazed how much pupils had done with the encouragement of their teacher Noel Tapper-Gray.

Over the year they raised about £40,000 with charitable projects including non-uniform days, setting up a Just Giving page in the process.

£8,000 was raised for Stanley Mathews Fund working with former Child soldiers in Uganda; pupils collected £12,000 for Unicef for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and another £10,000 bought two ambulances which went off to Ukraine.

Josh Turner gave an "accomplished" presentation to the club with president Keith Talbot congratulating all of the team and wishing them well with their exams next year.
