Motorists are set to expect delays around Oakley Wood Road until next week as road works around the new school site continue.
Warwickshire County Council began drainage connection works on the site south of Warwick and Leamington yesterday (February 19), as building around the new all-through school ramps up.
The road will be closed overnight from 7pm to 7am, but will not fully reopen in the day. Traffic lights will instead be in place around the works.
The local authority says it expects the works to be completed by 7pm on Tuesday 27 February.
"On the 19 February the drainage connection onto the new Oakley School site will commence on Oakley Wood Road," a council notice said.
"The nature of the work and the location of the drains means the work can only be undertaken during a full road closure.
"The work will be completed during overnight closures (7pm - 7am) however the nature of the work also means we will be unable to fully reopen the road during the day.
"As such we have included a daytime lane closure with temporary traffic lights past the location of the drainage works."
Last autumn local MP Matt Western said parents and children have been "let down" by the delays around the new school.
Having been expected to open last September, the over-budget Oakley Grove School will not welcome students until September 2024, with students forced to study at other local schools until the new facility opens.
The facility was first given planning permission in 2019, to provide an all-through education from ages four to 18 for the adjacent new Oakley Grove estate and other new housing estates nearby.
Matt Western has also said that questions need to be asked about the huge increase to the cost of the school, now set to cost over £60 million - an increase of £10 million.
