Described as "one of the smallest stately homes in the country" Nailcote Hall Hotel offers a wide range of treats for its customers.

Among those is the offer of a bottomless bubbles afternoon tea hosted in the comfortable and cosy Oak Room Restaurant.

Upon arrival we were taken to the bar for a drink, having placed our order for filter coffee and tea - of which there was a wide variety on offer.

Once settled we were then taken through to the restaurant where we were seated in a quiet corner and presented with a splendid array.

Delicate finger sandwiches included smoked salmon and cucumber, beef and horseradish, cheddar and chutney and ham.

To follow we had delicious freshly-baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and miniature Victoria sponges.

And to finish the platter of treats were sumptuous macaroons, small tiffin slices, churros filled with caramel, and baby banoffee pies. While not your first thought when it comes to afternoon tea, all were incredibly well received, and showed that there was something for everyone to enjoy.

As well as being regularly checked on for fresh tea and coffee, our prosecco glasses would also be topped up as soon as they were emptied. The offer allows guests up to 90 minutes of fizz!

And while the restaurant was almost full, we were still able to enjoy our peaceful afternoon, without needing to shout over the surrounding noise, making a nice change from a lot of eateries these days.

It was also clear that the afternoon tea offered something to a variety of parties, as we were sat among other couples, families and even a group of ten at a baby shower - all were enjoying their afternoon.

But afternoon tea is not all Nailcote has to offer.

The Oak Room restaurant also offers relaxed fine dining with a focus on locally sourced ingredients.

Owned by Dorridge couple Rick and Sue Cressman, the four-star accommodation includes an indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool and state-of-the-art gym and steam room.

The 17th century Jacobean house is also home to the Pavilion Suite – a standalone wedding venue and one of five available function suites which can host weddings from 12 to 320 guests.

The grade II listed hotel also boasts an award-winning Championship nine-hole golf course, home to the Farm Foods British Par 3 Championship, and the Clubhouse balcony with views over the course.

Above all is the history and charm of the building which even hosted Cromwell's troops at the end of the English Civil War as Kenilworth Castle was being destroyed.

Set in 15 acres of Warwickshire countryside, Nailcote Hall certainly has a lot to offer.
