A number of Warwick roads are set to be resurfaced this April.

Warwickshire County Council has released details of a number of works across the county over the coming months, four of which are in Warwick.

The surface dressing works involve spraying a sticky tar-like substance (bitumen emulsion) onto the prepared road surface.

It is then rolled to allow the stones to embed in. Some loose stones will remain on the road surface and will be embedded into the surface as cars drive over it, once the road reopens.

"This is why it is vital that people follow the onsite speed restrictions," the council website said.

Nub News understands the works have been timed to coincide with the Easter holidays.

Road closures will be in place while the resurfacing takes place.

The local authority website says the following works will be completed this April:

  • Sutherland Close
  • Maple Grove
  • Lilac Grove
  • St Nichols Church street

Birmingham Road in Hatton is also due to have surface dressing applied, from Charringworth Drive to Brownley Green Lane

The council said the works began over the weekend and will continue over the coming week.

The website continued: "Road markings will be replaced no later than 28 days after the surface dressing application.

"Critical marks such as stop lines, crossroad junctions and give way markings on roundabouts will be repainted the same day as the treatment.

"All give way markings are masked before surface dressing application.

"This masking is then removed after treatment so that there are still give way markings on site."
