A £1.4million grant has been secured to help pay for cycle routes along Harbury lane to two new schools.

The walking and cycle routes will be built between the junction with Europa Way and the new Oakley Grove primary and secondary schools being built on Oakley Wood Road.

Money has been secured from the Government's £161million Active Travel Fund by Warwickshire County Council.

And the announcement comes just a week after it was revealed that Warwickshire would receive a £79,000 'mini-Holland' cycle survey.

Cllr Wallace Redford, WCC's portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured this funding that will further enhance our active travel aspirations for Warwickshire.

"As a council, we have ambitious plans to extend the reach and quality of our cycling network so that cycling can be the go-to travel choice, particularly for short urban journeys, and this is perfectly complimented by this important funding boost."
