A primary school in Warwick is amongst those to expand its special needs SEND provision across the county.

Tysoe Church of England Primary School in Warwick is one of the schools in Warwickshire which will see children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to benefit from increased access to specialist support, following the opening of several new SEND Resource Provisions across the county.

The new provisions have been established in primary and secondary schools across Warwickshire, creating more than 100 additional specialist places for children and young people whose needs can be met through a combination of mainstream education and targeted support.

The new resource provisions support pupils with Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping more children access high-quality education closer to home while remaining part of their local school community.

Cllr Wayne Briggs, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Education, said: "We are committed to ensuring that children and young people with SEND can access the right support, at the right time, and as close to home as possible. These new resource provisions will help more pupils benefit from specialist support while remaining part of their local school communities.

"This investment strengthens our inclusive education offer across Warwickshire and reflects the excellent partnership working taking place between schools, families and the wider SEND system to improve outcomes for children and young people."

Demand for specialist provision continues to grow, with the number of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in Warwickshire increasing by around nine percent each year over the past five years, in line with national trends. In response, Warwickshire County Council is working with schools across the county to increase the number of resourced provision places to more than 500 by 2028.

Further provisions are also planned at Brownsover Community School, Ashlawn School, Wembrook Primary, Watling Meadow Primary and Keresley Newland Primary School.

Resourced provisions are specialist, purpose-designed spaces within mainstream schools that enable children and young people to benefit from inclusive education while accessing additional support tailored to their needs.

They can also reduce waiting times for placements and help children attend schools closer to home.The new provisions form part of Warwickshire's wider programme to expand specialist SEND support, increase opportunities for children and young people, and ensure they can access high-quality education in settings that best meet their individual needs.
