Popular Warwick street party returning this summer
Warwick locals are being told to save the date as a popular street festival returns to town once again.
The Smith Street Party will be held once again on Saturday 26 July, bringing together a host of businesses for a day of community celebration.
As with previous years, the event will see the street pedestrianised for the day and lined with stalls, with live music on the stage throughout the day.
Member of the organising committee Hannah Teale told Nub News: "The party has obviously been going for a long time, but because of Covid it had to stop.
"And then last year felt like it was the first time it properly came back.
"It was a real success last year, so we want to make the most of the opportunity this year.
"The feedback last year was that a lot of locals and businesses didn't know it was happening, so this year we want to spread the word as much as possible."
The 2025 instalment will see the Smith Street Party run slightly later - until 7pm - while there will hopefully be more family-friendly entertainment in the morning from the 10am start.
As with last year, the event will also run over the same weekend as the Warwick Folk Festival, as the committee looks to "showcase what the town has to offer".
"We are looking to make it slightly bigger and better this year," Hannah - who owns Diffuse Retail on Smith Street - explained.
"We will be having the stage at the top of the road like last year, with music throughout the day.
"And hopefully we can have some more family-led entertainment in the morning.
"We are also looking to put on more activities along the street as well.
"Of course, for those who want to make the most of the (hopefully) sunny weather and have a drink while listening to the music, they will be catered for too."
And as well as a chance for the community to get together, the July event will give a chance for the Smith Street independent businesses to showcase what they do.
"It is a hugely collaborative thing across the street," Hannah added.
"We have been asking all the businesses what they liked about last year, what they want to see next year.
"And on the day, everybody will be doing their own thing to showcase who they are.
"That is the whole thing about the Smith Street Party, it is a great chance to remind people that we are a great destination for independent businesses, and we do some really great things."
