A police helicopter and police dogs were needed in Warwick to catch a number of people who had stolen a car in the town.

On Boxing Day (December 26) evening thieves broke into a house on Twycross Walk, stole the keys to a blue Nissan and two Nintendo Switch devices.

They then fled in the stolen car.

An hour later police had several reports of "suspicious persons" walking up and down driveways of residential properties trying car doors and looking into vehicles on Willow Drive Warwick.

The stolen blue Nissan was found parked nearby and recovered alongside the gaming consoles.

One male was quickly detained and arrested on Willow Drive.

Two other males and a female attempted to flee the area in a Vauxhall Crossland.

After a short pursuit the vehicle stopped on Leam Road Warwick and the front seat passenger de camped into rear gardens.

The helicopter quickly picked the man up and followed him along the canal towpath where he attempted to discard items of clothing.

The man was located and arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The female driver of the Vauxhall Crossland and the other male were detained in the vehicle.

The third male was arrested on suspicion of burglary and the female driver was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All four persons were detained in custody overnight.
