Plans to install 240 solar panels on the roof of a Warwick industrial building have been put forward to the council.

Hansgrohe Ltd has applied for prior approval to cover the roof of its Edgehill Drive base with PV panels.

The application submitted to Warwick District Council says the 126kWp system will generate 104,000kWh per year.

"The proposed development is the installation of 240 no' 525W / 530W (subject to supply) solar PV panels onto the existing roofs," the plans said.

"The panels will be clamped to the roof via a low profile mounting system.

"The 126 kWp system is expected to generate in the region of 104,000 kWh/year which is estimated to offset 22 tonnes of CO2 annually.

"Warwick District Council, which is the planning authority where the site is situated, has set a target to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and the proposed installation will provide a positive step forward in helping to reach their targets.

"The installation is larger than 50kW and so no longer considered as microgeneration, however all permitted development rights have been adhered to when designing the system and as such as prior approval is being sought."

Bathroom manufacturer Hansgrohe opened its new base at Tournament Fields in Warwick in April 2024.

The new head office was designed by Warwick-based architect, Costorphine & Wright.
