Plans to convert former Warwick jewellers into four-bed house revealed
Plans to turn a former Warwick jewellers into a four-bedroom house have been revealed.
If approved, the scheme will see the former H. H. Bray shop on Jury Street extended and modified to become a home.
Plans submitted by Robothams Architects show that the ground floor of the three-storey building will be converted from a shop to form the kitchen and dining areas.
And an existing wooden lean-to will be demolished and replaced by a brick structure.
The staircases will also be moved with the application saying: "Without these extensions the ground floor would not be suitably sized and the development would not be viable."
The planning application also shows that a small rear extension would be needed on the second floor to build a fourth bedroom.
In total, the floor space of the building could increase by up to 10 per cent if Warwick District Council gives the scheme the green light.
An existing garage will provide parking for one vehicle and secure bicycle storage will be provided in the back garden.
Robothams said the changes were need to secure the future of the building.
"The existing retail use on the ground floor is considered no longer fit for purpose and no longer viable," the application said.
"In order to secure the long term future of the property it is considered that the conversion of the ground floor to a residential use to create a new four-bedroom property is appropriate."
The report added: "There are no significant alterations to the front elevation to Jury Street which is considered to be the most important feature of the building."
The Jury Street building is listed for sale for £450,000 by EHB Commercial as a retail unit with living space above.
The company's website says the building is currently under offer.
