Plans for 30m high 5G mast on edge of Warwick revealed

Plans for a 30 metre-high 5G mast on the edge of Warwick have been approved.
Icon Tower Infrastructure Ltd (Icon) has applied for prior approval for the structure off Barford Road.
Plans submitted to Warwick District Council show seven sites in the area were assessed for the mast, and were graded red (not suitable) to green (most suitable).
The application explained: "The site has been given a rating of green, as the area has been highlighted as in need of telecoms infrastructure during discussions between Barford Parish Council and the head of connectivity."

The application said the landowner has suggested the site, and pointed out there had previously been a telecommunications mast there.
"The site is therefore not pristine but has been subject to this type of development before," the application continued.
"The site is located in the corner of an agricultural field and is accessed via an existing slip road."
Explaining the height of the proposed tower, Icon explained: "The mast height is determined by features of the surrounding area such as the woodland to the north around the M40, as the antennas must be able to 'see over' any obstructions such as the trees.
"The mast therefore must clear the height of the trees, and the 30m height ensures this is maintained for the foreseeable future."
