Plans to install a new 5G mast in Warwick have been put forward to Warwick District Council.
Infrastructure firm Cornerstone has applied for permission to build the 20-metre monopole on Scar Bank SW, to replace an existing mast.
Plans show the structure would have six antennas, two dishes, a GPS module and two cabinets.
Cornerstone says the structure is essential for local connectivity.
"It is extremely important for the functionality of the local businesses for a robust and reliable telecommunication infrastructure, with a wide range of telecommunication services," the application said.
"It is also extremely important for local residents to have a reliable telecommunication infrastructure, with many more people working from home this is increasingly important.
"The proposed installation will ensure this infrastructure is upheld."
The planning application also said other locations had been considered, but concluded the grass verge on Scar Bank was the most appropriate location.
"This is not a new additional installation but is a replacement for an existing installation that is to be removed," the application explained.
"The proposed installation is necessary for the continued wireless connectivity and capacity for local businesses, residents and visitors to this busy area of Warwick."
It added: "However, we believe that there are no sequentially preferable locations within the defined site search area suitable to share.
"The proposed facility will provide coverage including 2G/3G/4G services and essential 5G coverage all from the same installation."
Cornerstone claims to be the UK's leading mobile infrastructure services company, with over 20,000 sites across the country.
