Overnight closures are set to come to a busy Warwick road next month, Network Rail has confirmed.

Engineers will be on site on Birmingham Road from 10pm to 6am from Monday 16 December until Saturday 21 December for works on the railway bridge.

The work is part of "planned maintenance of the bridge".

Only a short section of the road around the structure will actually be shut.

Network Rail will be repairing sections of the guttering to "keep it draining water away" as it should, and carrying out "general maintenance" such as removing weeds and growth from the brickwork.

A spokesman for Network Rail said to Nub News: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this work.

"It will help keep the railway bridge in good condition for years to come and is part of our routine and ongoing maintenance plans.

"We will carry out the work as quickly and quietly possible and thank local people for their patience."

The footpath will be closed during the works and a diversion will be in place.

The Birmingham Road bridge was recently revealed as one of the "most bashed" structures in the West Midlands by Network Rail.
