Plans to demolish a village home to make space for three new houses and garages have been put forward to the district council.

Pathfinder Estates (Midlands) Ltd has applied for planning permission to knock down Norton Croft on Wolverton Road, Norton Lindsey to make space for two, two-bed and one three-bed house.

The application to Warwick District Council also includes plans to extend and alk=ter Cotswold House on the same site.

"The existing properties Norton Croft and Cotswold House are of no architectural value themselves and their re-development through demolition, extension and alteration provides an opportunity to significantly enhance the streetscene, as well as providing modern, energy efficient family homes," the application said.

A separate application has also been put forward for an extension to Norton Croft.

While the plot is within the green belt, the plans state the new scheme would not cause any harm to its openness.

The application explained: "In terms of the impact upon openness, the development, although increasing the built volume overall, would by virtue of the factors stated above result in a betterment to the purposes of including land within the green belt and the impact upon openness would not be greater than the existing development."

Plans also state the two new homes to the rear of the site are "far more modest in size and scale".
