Warwick Castle's brand new trebuchet will make its first public appearance this spring with a brand-new show at the town's main tourist attraction.

Merlin Entertainment announced £500,000 plans last November to rebuild the castle's medieval siege weapon which was no longer in working order.

On 1 April, Britain's biggest siege machine will return in 'The Legend of the Trebuchet' show a 90kg projectile hurled hundreds of metres through the air at the castle's Riverside Arena.

The brand-new replica siege machine replaces the much-loved trebuchet at Warwick Castle, which fired nearly 11,000 times after it was built in 2005.

Built to 13th and 14th century original designs, the new 18-metre, 22-tonne machine will be made from over 300 pieces of wood and is capable of launching projectiles up to 300 metres.

The Legend of the Trebuchet show will take place twice a day every day until 5 November 2023 and is included in the price of general admission tickets.

The Legend of the Trebuchet show will run twice a day from April 1
