Even the rain couldn't dampen the spirits as the Mayor of Warwick opened the town's new Specsavers store on Monday (21 November).

Cllr Parminder Singh Birdi officially opened the doors to the new shop at 27 Market Place before customers joined the team to enjoy the celebrations.

"This is a great thing for Warwick," comments Cllr Birdi, who had both his vision and hearing checked while in store.

"It's a fantastic store with all the latest high-tech equipment and I for one will be visiting regularly."

Specsavers Warwick is part-owned and run by local residents, Lena and Navin Aggarwal, (who also run the Leamington Spa store), alongside Sajad Ali whose also a familiar face to Specsavers as he's spent several years as an optometrist working for various stores across the region.

"We were honoured to have the mayor join us to mark this new venture, we're all very excited to see what the future holds and are very much looking forward to welcoming new customers through our doors and becoming part of the local community,' Lena added.

"A big thank you to our team and all the support colleagues who helped make this happen – we feel both proud and humbled to have this 'family' around us."

The new store has two test rooms over one floor, along with a dedicated contact lens area, audiology room and a state-of-the-art piece of equipment usually found in hospitals.

The Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine takes detailed scans of the back of the eye and helps detect eye conditions up to four years earlier than traditional methods.

Store manager Pamela De Jesus heads-up the nine-strong team.

The store is open seven days a week; 9am-5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30am-4pm Sunday.
