New photos show latest progress at delayed A46 'bridge to nowhere'

New photographs showing progress at the much-delayed and over budget A46 Stoneleigh Junction have been released by Warwickshire County Council.
The local authority says the recent wet weather has not slowed progress at the 'bridge to nowhere' development.
This weekend will see Stoneleigh Road closed as part of the works.
"Since the start of 2026, the site team have persevered with earthworks in record breaking rain, and concreting in record breaking heat," an update said.
"The photographs below show some of the work which is now being buried as the ground level is built up to support the new carriageway."
Earlier this year it was confirmed the 'bridge to nowhere' project is set to cost £80 million - over £40 million more than originally planned.
The project was originally due to be finished in 2022 but is now set to rumble on until summer 2027.
The project has been blighted by problems associated with a lack of available backfill material to support the wingwalls, resulting in a redesign and a five-year delay to the reconfigured junction opening.
