New independent café officially opens in Warwick
A brand new independent café has officially opened in the centre of Warwick.
Having enjoyed a soft launch on Wednesday (November 6), Fat Birds threw open its doors on Brook Street fully for the first time at 8am yesterday, after just a month's work converting the former estate agents into a coffee shop.
The new venture is Fat Birds' third location, following on from its café at the Lord Leycester and on Warwick Street in Leamington Spa where it has been since 2008.
Explaining the decision to open on Brook Street, Chloe Dance told Nub News: "Lisa [Vermeulen] has been in charge for four years now, and we felt it was a good time to branch out again.
"We also run the café in the Lord Leycester as well, so we know Warwick really well.
"We saw this property was available and we thought it would be an amazing little place to open another Fat Birds.
"When we saw this was up for rent and thought why not go for it!"
Wednesday's soft launch was a big success for Fat Birds, with lots of new customers coming in to see the "quirky" new café.
During the launch the team were offering free sausage or bacon bagels with any large drink to take away - an offer that will continue to run throughout November from 8am to 10am, Monday to Friday.
And while the Brook Street café does have an extensive menu for dining in, the Fat Birds team is really eager to push its new - and cheaper - takeaway menu.
"We are trying to push the takeaway as much as possible here," Chloe explained.
"On our menu we have cheaper takeaway prices, and lots of options.
"We want people to sit in here, but we also really want to push the takeaway side of things."
While there are some changes from Leamington, the Warwick menu is packed with popular dishes including omelettes, bagels and sandwiches, oats - and even a small selection of dinners for dogs!
Fat Birds also caters to vegan, vegetarian and gluten free needs meaning there is "something for everyone".
And while there are a few small changes from the Leamington branch, Chloe said people can still expect the same excellent Fat Birds offer.
"We wanted to keep it as close to Fat Birds Leamington and drop that in here," she explained.
"All our food is freshly made, and made with real love and passion.
"Fat Birds is quirky and there is something here for everyone."
