New wards to boost capacity at Warwick Hospital
By Nadia Sayed 17th Mar 2026
Work has began to create two new hospital wards at Warwick Hospital.
The wards will be located on the upper floors of the new Main Entrance building which opened in October last year (2025).
The work is set to develop the two upper floors into modern ward spaces, including treatment rooms, waiting areas and clinic facilities.
Once complete, the new wards will support the relocation of Hatton Ward and the 23 Hour Ward, providing "much-needed additional bed capacity at the hospital."
The move will also enable the decant and demolition of older infrastructure on the site, creating space for future developments, including a new elective hub designed to increase surgical capacity and help reduce waiting times.
South Warwickshire University NHS Trust (SWFT) shared this phase marks "an important step in modernising facilities at Warwick Hospital and ensuring the hospital continues to meet the growing healthcare needs of the local community."
