A new fish and chip shop and gelateria is set to open in Heathcote tomorrow (July 26).

Building on the success of his Clopton Catch shop in Stratford-on-Avon, Andy Calleja will host the official opening for Harbury Catch this Tuesday.

Andy, who has 25 years of industry experience, has run his own fish and chip shops since he was 25.

And having already made a success of his high-end food in Warwickshire, his latest shop at Lower Heathcote Square will be open to the general public from tomorrow morning.

Whilst the shop was anticipated to have a soft launch at the start of the month, the date was pushed back until an invite-only event at the venue on Thursday, July 21.

With that a success, customers will be able to sample Harbury Catch's food from 11.30am to 9.30pm tomorrow.

Speaking to Nub News last month, Andy explained the idea behind the Catch stores.

"Our slogan is 'fresh food comes to those who wait'," he said.

"Everything is freshly cooked in house, everything that says it is homemade, is exactly that.

"We have been doing what I believed in, and luckily the people of Stratford have bought into that with us."

Adding: "I want it to be an experience for the customer. It is the nation's favourite dish, it's no longer a cheap and cheerful meal, so why should it be treated like that."

As well as inside and outdoor seating, draft beer, a new vegan menu and even a range of "quirky and different" soft drinks, Harbury Catch will also feature a brand new ice cream shop.

Filippo's Hand Crafted Gelato will not only bring together Andy's "two loves" but will also be a poignant memory to his father - Filippo - who came to England from Sicily in 1969, leaving his job as an English teacher to work in the ice cream industry.

Andy explained: "As a five year old I used to go down with my dad and by the time I was seven I was earning money at the family business because I was working there.

"It is a testament to my dad really - I said to him on his deathbed that I made him proud in life and I will still do so after life so it is a homage to him.

"And it is also a good accompaniment to fish and chips. It is the two loves of my life, ice cream and fish and chips."
