A brand new family event is coming to Warwick this month, which will go towards raising money towards the new Warwick community centre.

Warwick's St Mary's Church and Priory Pools Community Centre are launching 'The Great Teddy Escape' – a Teddy Parachute Jump and Teddy Bears Picnic at St Mary's Church, Warwick, on Saturday 20 June from 11am to 2pm.

All funds raised from the event will contribute to the new Priory Pools Community Centre, a transformational £2.49 million project creating a new fully accessible community hub for the Packmores Estate.

Families are invited to bring their favourite teddy bears (or buy one from the teddy stall) and watch them parachute from the roof of St Mary's Church into the church lawn below whilst enjoying a picnic and entertainment.

Amanda Burford, Chair of Priory Pools Community Centre, said: "The Great Teddy Escape is a brand new event created to bring the community together in a fun and memorable way while helping build something that will benefit local residents for generations. Thank you to St Mary's Church, Warwick for making this event happen."

"We're also delighted to launch our Aviva campaign at the same time and give people the opportunity to double their money! If you were thinking of donating, however small, now is the time to help!"

Visitors will be encouraged to support the campaign at the event, with donations receiving an added boost: Aviva will match donations made by individuals up to £250 per person for donations made before 21st July 2026!

All sizes of donations are welcome and will qualify for gift aid which will add another 25 percent.

Priory Pools Community Centre recognised and thanked St Mary's Church for its continued support of the project sharing: "St Mary's has been a valued supporter of Priory Pools Community Centre and this event reflects their ongoing commitment to helping build a stronger community and support the delivery of the new Community Centre."

Suzette Aagaard, Family and Community Engagement Minister, from St Mary's Church added: "We are delighted to support Priory Pools Community Centre through this new event and look forward to welcoming families to St Mary's for what promises to be a wonderful afternoon. Supporting projects that strengthen our local community is something we are proud to be part of. A big thank you also to All Saint's Church, Leek Wotton for lending us their expertise and parachutes too!"

All proceeds will support the development of the new Community Centre.

The event will conclude in time to watch 'The Queen's Royal Hussars' freedom parade around Warwick town centre which begins at 2.30pm and visitors will be in great place to go and join the crowds lining the streets. We will be giving out flags to wave during the parade. Town Centre roads will be closed approximately 12 to 4pm due to the parade, but access from the Butts will remain open.
