Police are appealing for information after a narrowboat was stolen in South Warwickshire.

The red and black boat - which has a red and cream roof - was stolen on the canal in Wilmcote.

Warwickshire Rural Crime Team believes it was moved towards Stratford.

The boat was undergoing restoration work meaning the name on the side has been temporarily removed.

The force says "the boat will not be identifiable by means of name, however the markings and rework pattern are unique".

A statement said: "Please join us in a search for a stolen narrowboat, whether it be extra vigilance on your morning dog walk along your local canal, or a purposeful hunt to return this pride and joy to its owner."

It added: "The Canal and river trust are aware of this incident and are working alongside us to track it down, however if you are out on a walk of a local canal and see this boat please ring 101 quoting 23/48472/24, with an exact location, preferably with a what three words location, so that we can attend to identify the boat and conduct the relevant checks and investigation."
