Structural repairs are needed at a former Warwick restaurant which has been on the market for over two years.

Strandpark Properties Ltd has applied for listed building consent to refurbish and repair the roof and the upper floors at the former Ask Italian unit on High Street.

The large restaurant space has been on the market since late 2023 but with no takers.

And now plans submitted to Warwick District Council state it needs "strengthening and repairs to the roof structure".

Temporary props will be removed and replaced to "stabilise the structure".

The application explained: "The proposal is to strengthen the building whilst keeping the majority of the historic fabric and utilising the existing timber truss running through the centre of the building.

"The roof covering is to remain in-situ and isolated strengthening works completed internally to supplement and strengthen the existing members.

"The additional members will be, in general, seasoned oak and fixed with stainless steel brackets so in keeping with the status of the building.

"The main item is that the scheme has been designed to retain the existing second floor, attic floor and the roof structure.

"No significant changes will be made to the structure externally."

Strandpark Properties Ltd was previously given permission for "radical" plans to renovate the upstairs of the building.

The previous works to prevent a "future collapse" of the roof, allowed for new steel beams to be installed after "various serious structural defects" were discovered.
