Meet the candidates: Warwick South

This week, Warwick locals will head to the polls to vote in their new councillors for Warwickshire County Council.
All 57 wards at the local authority are up for grabs, with voting opening on Thursday 1 May.
Results will then be announced on Friday 2 May, including all Warwick wards.
We have asked each candidate why locals should trust them with their vote.
This is what the candidates for Warwick South said:
Mike Dudley - Reform UK
Mike Dudley, the Reform UK candidate for Warwick South in the Warwickshire County elections on 1 May 2025, has been a Warwick resident for 15 years and lived in 22 countries.
Starting as an apprentice electrician with the Royal Navy at 17, he built seven careers, including global supply chain leadership and running consultancy and property businesses.
Frustrated by council inefficiency, neglect, and poor Brexit delivery, he leverages his global experience, notably in China and India, to highlight Britain's squandered potential.
If elected, Mike Dudley pledges to deliver repaired roads, reduced council tax, stronger social care, and a full audit of the council's spending over the past five years.
A Sky Blues and Coventry Rugby supporter, he enjoys walking football and badminton.

Kelvin Lambert - Liberal Democrats
Kelvin was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and lived in several parts of the country before moving to Warwick.
He is married with two children. Kelvin is a chartered engineer and works in energy.
He has been active in politics since the 1980s with, particularly due to being disabled, interests in support services and transport, both key Warwickshire County Council responsibilities.
In addition, he's interested in the environment and foreign affairs.

Philip Rothwell - Conservative
I grew up in Warwick and now raise my family here.
I'm standing for the county council because I care deeply about our community and want to make a practical difference.
I'll focus on the issues that matter; safer streets, roads that work, excellent schools, and reliable care for the elderly.
While others chase national headlines or idealistic promises, I'll get on with the real work – listening to residents and solving problems. I believe in steady, responsible leadership rooted in local knowledge and values.
Nicki Scott - Green
I'm standing for Warwick South because I want to change lives for the better at a local level.
I have 17 years as a HR professional, significant fundraising experience and I'm currently head of the school governing board for a local primary school.
I know how to bring change and get things done.
I'm keen to join other Green councillors in challenging the status quo at County level and make a positive difference to transport and education for Warwickshire.
Greens have worked consistently hard all year round in Warwick South since 2020 - please vote for me so we can do more for you.

Julie Stevens - Labour
I'm a teacher and school leader who has worked at Myton School since 1995.
It is crucial every child has the opportunity to succeed, and I've worked towards this goal throughout my career.
When I speak with residents, they say there have been lots of houses built but infrastructure is not in place to support development.
As your councillor, I will ensure that roads are adopted quicker, cycle paths and road bus routes are in place and potholes are filled.
Since being selected as a candidate, I have championed road safety in targeted antisocial behaviour. I have patrolled the community including St Nick's Park to ensure young people get home safely.
