McDonald's told it cannot install 'harmful' new sign

McDonald's has been told it cannot install a new sign for its drive thru on Queensway, with planners describing it as "harmful".
If approved the two-metre tall sign would have sat on a piece of grace between the fast food restaurant and the footpath.
But Warwick District Council planners said the sign - which would be 4.8 metres wide - would be a "very dominant addition".
"The signage will not contribute to nor enhance the existing setting of the restaurant and would be deemed an inappropriate addition that would be considered harmful to the character of the area," a council report said.
"In addition to the array of existing signage on the application site, the proposals would amount to harmful advertising clutter."
It added: "Officers consider the introduction of this signage to be an inappropriate addition in this location and consider it to have a detrimental effect to an existing feature which makes a significant contribution to the character of the local area."
