A man has died after having a 'medical episode' on the M40 in South Warwickshire last week.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 6.50pm on Thursday (August 10) to junction 16 of the motorway northbound and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer, a BASICS doctor and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition after having a medical episode at the wheel.

"Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

"Sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, the man could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
