Emergency services were called to the motorway at around 2.49am following a collision between a Ford Transit van and an HGV.

The motorway was closed northbound between junctions 12 and 13 until around 10am the following morning.

A man who was a passenger in the van died from his injuries after the collision.

His family have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.
