Local hotel could be getting major expansion

A major extension could be built at a local hotel if plans are signed off by Warwick District Council.
Turnbrook Limited has applied for planning permission for a two-storey extension to the back of The Jephson Hotel on Warwick New Road.
If approved, the scheme would see another 21 rooms added to the hotel.
Designs also include a new rear reception entrance, car parking and car access.
"The proposed development also seeks to reflect the local area and ensure that the extension does not disrupt the established context whilst still allowing the mass of the original villas to be clearly visible from Warwick Place," the application said.
The extension itself will actually include 22 new rooms. However, internal changes to allow for the build will mean one of the existing rooms is removed.
The application continued: "The proposed development represents a sustainable and appropriate extension to an established hotel in a highly accessible urban location.
"The proposal will support the continued operation and long-term viability of the hotel by providing additional high-quality visitor accommodation and improved accessibility, making efficient use of previously developed land without giving rise to any unacceptable planning impacts.
"Accordingly, there is a clear and compelling case that the principle of development is acceptable, the proposal is therefore policy compliant."
