Warwick students celebrate 'excellent' A Level results
Sixth Formers across Warwick have celebrated "excellent" A Level results today (August 15).
King's High School said it is "very proud of the hard work and dedication" that has led to such "excellent" results, with around half of all grades awarded at A* to A.
Dr Stephen Burley, Head Master, said: "I am delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Upper Sixth students.
"They have done so well and worked incredibly hard. They are a fantastic cohort and it was a special moment to come together today to congratulate them.
"They all have very bright futures ahead of them.'"
In art, 92 per cent of students achieved A* or A grades, and in history 81 per cent of students achieved these top grades.
In English literature, drama, DT, art, Latin and music, all students achieved A* to B grades. Students in physics, RS, English language, psychology and drama achieved more than 60 per cent A* to A grades.
Pupils are now looking ahead to a range of "exciting future pathways", with the large majority achieving places at their first choice and Russell Group universities.
At Warwick School results included a staggering 19 per cent awarded at A*.
Half of all grades at Warwick were awarded at A/A*, and 80 per cent awarded a A* to B.
These results have seen 117 pupils securing a place at a university of their choosing - including 87 earning places at prestigious Russell Group or other highly selective institutions (including Bath, Loughborough and SOAS) and seven Oxbridge offer holders successfully securing their places.
Head Master, Mr James Barker, commented: "Our Upper Sixth leavers can be enormously proud of their achievements which have earned them the opportunity to go forward and pursue their ambitions.
"Warwick School shares their pride and wishes them every success in the future."
Both Aylesford School and Myton School have been approached for comment.
