UPDATE: Man dies following major M40 collision

A man has died following a major collision on the M40 this morning (September 12).

At 5.39am this morning officers were called to a report of a collision between a van and a lorry between junctions 12 (Gaydon) and 14 (Leamington Spa) on the M40 northbound. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene where the man was pronounced dead.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Barr said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man's friends and loved ones at this very difficult time."

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101 or visit Report | Warwickshire Police quoting incident 42 of 12 September 2024.

The road has now begun to reopen with National Highways announcing at around 3.30pm that one of three lanes has now opened.

"Please expect delays, thank you for your patience," the update said.
