Changes to bin collections over the 2023 festive period have been confirmed by Warwick District Council (WDC).

WDC has said collections from Christmas Day to Friday 5 January 2024 will be rearranged.

There will be no refuse, recycling or food waste collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day.

Normal collections will resume on Monday 8 January 2024.

There will be no garden waste collections from Saturday 23 December 2023 through to Saturday 6 January 2024.

Garden waste collections will resume from Monday 8 January 2024.

The council said extra recycling can be put in a "sturdy container" or red box next to blue-lidded wheeled bins.

WDC has also asked locals to flatten or cut large cardboard in pieces no larger than 1m x 1m.

However, the authority said it will not collect any side waste from grey bins or food caddies.

From 8 to 19 January 2024 the council will also collect real Christmas trees.

"We'll be collecting real Christmas trees from 8 to 19 January 2024, and you don't need to have a garden waste permit subscription to have yours collected," the council website says.

"Please ensure that all lights and decorations have been removed from the tree. Any tree that is over 5ft tall must be cut in half.

"Leave your tree outside in a place that's not obstructing the highway, and we'll collect it for you.

"If you're subscribed to the garden waste service, you can chop it up and put it in your bin."

In the case of snow, ice or other bad weather some services may be disrupted - check the waste collection service disruption page for details of any service disruptions.
