Sam Jones has been elected the new councillor for Warwick All Saints & Woodloes Ward at Warwick District Council.

The Green Party member took 719 of the votes, with Reform's Nigel Clarke coming in second with 450.

The result counts as a gain for Labour with the seat previously held by Independent John Sullivan.

Cllr Sullivan - who also sits on Warwick Town Council - was first elected to the local authority in May 2023 as a Labour councillor before defecting to be an Independent in April 2024.

He resigned on December 17 2024.

The Green group now has 16 councillors, making it the largest party. But no party currently holds a majority on the 44-seat council, with the Greens currently in charge in partnership with the Labour group.

Results in full:

  • Laurence Byrne (Lib Dem) - 110
  • Nigel Clarke (Reform) - 450
  • Sam Jones (Green Party) - 719
  • Cora-Laine Moynihan (Labour) - 399
  • Jody Tracey (Local Conservatives) - 383

The turn out was just 27.78 per cent.
