The Green Party candidate hoping to become MP for Warwick and Leamington says she wants to bring a "can-do" attitude to Westminster to "fix our broken politics".

Hema YellaPragada - who lives in Warwick Gates - has been selected as the party's parliamentary candidate for the upcoming election, just months after being elected to Warwick District Council last May in the Warwick Myton & Heathcote ward.

"Greens are showing at the district council they can deliver sensible, financially sustainable government while pursuing evidence-based solutions to address energy security and protect and enhance our green spaces," she said.

"Neither the ruling party nor the opposition at the centre are offering the ambition or the commitment to address the cost of living crisis and environmental challenges.

"It's time to take that can-do approach to central government and fix our broken politics. It's time for change."

The Greens have already selected Cllr Zoe Leventhal as the candidate for the neighbouring Kenilworth and Southam parliamentary seat.
