Council planners have signed off on plans to remove signs and two ATM's from a bank in Warwick.

Lloyds on Swan Street is winding down to closing, as the bank shuts branches across the country.

The Warwick branch will shut on 24 June 2025, as the bank axes 45 sites nationwide.

But Lloyds has now been given listed building consent to remove the ATM's and signage.

Signing off on the plans, a Warwick District Council report said: "It is considered that the proposed works are considered acceptable, being primarily rectification of alterations in line with occupation of the space as a bank.

"The proposed repairs following removal of ATMs and signage will be minor and overall, it is considered that the works will have a neutral impact upon both the character and integrity of the listed building and the wider conservation area."

A timeline for the works has not been confirmed, but Warwick Town Council has asked for the bank to make this clear, and signpost locals to the nearest ATM.

The future of the unit is not yet known, and any change of use would be subject to a separate planning application.

The application also asked for permission to "repaint the timber fascia to match the shopfront.

"The hanging projecting sign and lights are to be removed.

"The bracket is to remain for possible future use, to minimise disturbance to the historic fabric.

"The security camera is to be removed."

A white obscure film can also be applied to the windows when the bank closes.

Warwick could receive a banking hub when Lloyds closes - possibly at Shire Hall.

LINK, the UK's cash access and ATM network, has announced it is recommending a banking hub open in the town.

Banking hubs are a shared banking space, similar to a traditional bank branch, but available to everyone.

The hub will consist of a counter service operated by Post Office employees, where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular banking transactions.
