Green light for Hatton Locks to launch fundraising and volunteer campaign

Council planners have given the green light for a series of new signs to be installed at Hatton Locks to boost an awareness campaign for the canals.
The Canal and River Trust has been given permission for a variety of signs which would form part of the 'Give' campaign.
The trust wants to boost fundraising and volunteer support and says the signs "would also support the presentation and interpretation of Hatton Locks, introducing fresh content and information to visitors".
Signing off on the application, a Warwick District Council report said: "It is considered that the proposed signage is acceptable in terms of visual amenity and its impact on the Conservation Area, with the signage being limited to existing signage already in situ on site."
Hatton Locks is one of 12 selected sites prioritised to update the existing signage - not adding new ones.
Plans state the designs would not add "visual clutter".
"This campaign is fundamental to helping us raise charitable awareness so that we can begin significantly increasing public and corporate donations and grow our teams of local volunteers," the application said.
"The project's focus has been identifying key locations on the network that attract very high footfall, have strong local/regional links and a visitor demographic with a higher capacity to be able to donate."
