Four arrested after man is shot dead in Leamington Spa

Two people from Warwick were among the four arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a man was shot dead in Leamington Spa.

Emergency services were called to Clemens Street after Ben Daly, 30, was attacked at around 3am on Thursday (August 10).

Mr Daly was rushed to hospital with a suspected gunshot wound but despite the efforts of medics he could not be saved.

Two men and two women, from Leamington and Warwick, were arrested by police on Thursday evening in connection with the murder.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch following the shooting.

Warwickshire Police revealed the victim had been in a bar on Leamington high street with four other people prior to the murder.

Chief Inspector Faz Chishty, said: "Today has seen a huge policing operation to identify the four suspects and bring them into custody where they will be questioned by detectives.

"We're continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

"We know the victim was in Kelsey's yesterday afternoon and evening with four other people. We're keen to speak to anyone who was in the bar during this time.

"This incident has been big shock for the local community, and we will continue to have a presence in the area over the coming days.

"The cordon is likely to remain in place for some time; we are fully aware of the disruption this is causing in the local community, and I'd like to thank people for their ongoing patience and support."

Detectives believe Mr Daly was shot on Frances Havergal Close before he was found collapsed in the street at the junction of Clemens Street and Ranelagh Terrace.

A post-mortem is due to take place while his family is supported by specially trained liaison officers.
