Flood warning and alert issued for Warwick

A flood warning and alerts have been issued for Warwick following sustained heavy rain.

The Environment Agency has put the warning in for Gog Brook saying "flooding of property and farmland is possible today".

The warning was issued at 6.30pm today (October 8).

It added: "We expect flooding to affect Properties along Lodge Crescent 

"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. 

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. 

"Please activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers and move family, pets, possessions, valuables and cars to safety."

A flood alert for the River Avon in Warwick has also been put in place.

It said: "River levels are rising at the Warwick Old Budbrooke Road river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall, this afternoon 08/10/2024.

"Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is today 08/10/2024. We expect flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Avon between Rugby and Bidford including Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, caravan parks and farmland. 

"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until Wednesday 09/10/2024. 

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast."
