Fire crews tackle blaze at Warwick pub
Three fire crews were called to tackle a blaze at a Warwick pub in the early hours of this morning.
The fire started in the garden of The Nelson Pub and destroyed much of the outside furniture and wooden canopy.
Crews from Leamington and Kenilworth were called to the Emscote Road fire, where there were reports of a person trapped inside.
Two firefighters entered the pub to stop the fire spreading, whilst the other crews tackled the blaze in the garden.
The pub was filled with smoke and a person pulled from the building needed treatment from an ambulance.
The pub was shut today with the owners posting a video of the damage on social media.
A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "At 3.08am this morning we were alerted to reports of a building fire with persons reported trapped inside on Emscote Road in Warwick. Two crews from Leamington were already proceeding.
"On the arrival of the first attending crews they found a severe fire at the rear of a public house involving lean to structures and garden furniture. Two firefighters in Breathing Apparatus were committed into the building to check for fire spread whilst crews outside tackled the fire using hose reel jets.
"Positive pressure ventilation fans were used to clear the building of smoke.
"An Ambulance was requested to attend due to one occupant suffering minor smoke inhalation."
