A drunk driver who was almost twice over the legal limit when he crashed his car on the A46 has been banned from driving for five years.

The driver pleaded guilty to drink driving this week and was ordered to pay fines and costs of £385 following the incident in south Warwickshire in June 2024.

Warwickshire Police's operational patrol unit found a bottle of Glen's Vodka in the smashed up Honda after attending the scene of the collision last summer.

A preliminary reading at the scene showed the driver was almost twice the drink drive limit.

Following the afternoon incident, the driver was taken to hospital where an "evidential blood sample" was taken.

Police have not named the driver.
