A drive-thru coffee shop could be built on the outskirts of Warwick if plans are approved by Warwick District Council.

The proposal could see a cafe and an electric vehicle charging hub built next to the Marriott Hotel at the Longbridge roundabout.

An application, submitted by Dallas Holdings, says it presents a "new inward investment into the district" and will help meet the need for more EV charging along the M40.

"It will provide additional diversification on site to meet an existing customer demand," it added.

If approved, the scheme will see a timber-clad coffee shop built with outside seating, a drive-thru kiosk, 12 parking spaces and a further eight charging bays.

The application does not say who would run the shop, but says it is expected to create 20 local jobs.

"By installing high powered, fast chargers at prime roadside locations on the strategic highway network Dallas Holdings is helping electric vehicle drivers to travel long distances confidently and with ease," the application says.

It adds: "The proposal will enhance the offer to hotel users through EVC provision and additional food choices, but will not generate sufficient volumes of traffic nor harm the character of the area."

There is already an InstaVolt charging area at the McDonald's at the same roundabout.
