Detailed plans for 180 new homes in Warwick approved
District planners have signed off on detailed plans for 180 new homes in Warwick.
Developer William Davies Ltd has already been given outline planning permission for the Gallows Hill estate near Warwick Technology Park, but has now had its reserved matters application approved by Warwick District Council (WDC).
The company said the designs for the 13.77 hectare site "respect the local character and, alongside adjacent developments, continues to move the area towards a sustainable future through an increase in housing choice".
The application includes 72 affordable homes.
Warwick Town Council had initially objected to the application, saying the scheme would result in a "car dominant street scene," adding that the gardens for the affordable housing units are "too small".
However, after updated designs were submitted by William Davis, the council withdrew its application.
Approving the plans, a WDC report said: "The proposed development seeks to deliver 180 new dwellings as granted under the original outline planning application for the site.
"The proposal represents a high quality scheme which is acceptable in overall terms including in respect of the integration of built development within the surrounding landscape and the site provides additional benefits in securing appropriate linkages with the adjacent sites to provide a comprehensive development across the overall allocation."
Permission has already been granted for a temporary road junction for the estate.
