Details have been announced for a memorial service to scatter the ashes of Colin the white wallaby.

The marsupial, which had become something of a local celebrity around Kenilworth, had to be put down by 608 Equine Vets on Thursday October 13 after being hit by a lorry.

Since then, locals have taken it upon themselves to organise a tribute to the rare creature.

His ashes will be scattered on the morning on Sunday, November 6 on some private farmland that he frequently visited.

The event will be attended by the local media, but in advance any locals wishing to say goodbye can see Colin's ashes at the Kenilworth Centre until Friday 28 October.

Children and adults can also drop off drawings of the wallaby and they will be displayed locally in the new year.

Organiser Lulu Di Minto said: "I really hope that this is satisfactory for everyone who has followed Colin’s adventures.

"Thanks to 608 Equine Vets, Heart of England Pet Cremation Services and Richard Staveley, for doing all you could do for Colin."

Lulu, who arranges memorial services for a living, said to Nub News earlier in the month: "A lot of people held him in their hearts really.

"Obviously a lot of animals get killed on the road but it's the fact that he was so unusual, not something you see every day, and that people felt sad thinking that he was out there on his own the whole time. 

"I think that struck a chord with people in Kenilworth and the local area."
