An array of colourful banners and flags are set to appear on the streets of Warwick next week as the town prepares for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Warwick District Council said the decorations will be put up overnight to minimise disruption to businesses and residents.

And further decorations including bunting and billboards will be installed during the run up to the games which start on Thursday 28 July.

The announcement comes just weeks after it was revealed that the Queen's Baton Relay will pass through the town,

The baton will reach Warwick on Friday 22 July, having already visited Kenilworth, before making its way to Whitnash Civic Centre and library.

Cllr Liam Bartlett, WDC portfolio holder for culture and tourism, said: "It's so exciting to see the final touches being put in place as we prepare to welcome thousands of athletes and spectators to the biggest and largest profile event our district has ever seen."
