Secure cycle parking is now available at Warwick Racecourse following the installation of two 'toast-rack' cycle stands, providing space for up to 20 bikes.

A legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games following a successful funding bid by Warwick District and Warwickshire County Councils, the new facilities are located in the Bread and Meat Close car park.

The cycle stands are already proving popular with Warwick Racecourse Parkrun participants, particularly following a special event on Saturday 8 November when Warwickshire County Council's Active Travel team were on hand to provide free 'Dr. Bike' health checks and free BikeRegister security marking kits to everyone  arriving on two wheels.

In total, 26 Dr. Bike checks were carried out, examining brakes, gears and tyres and applying 8 BikeRegister security markings.

Cllr Will Roberts, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood, said: "This is a fantastic addition to the Racecourse that supports active travel and provides a  secure place for people to store their bikes.

"We're pleased to have supported Parkrun with the installation of these cycle racks, helping to reduce car travel to  this weekly event."

The run directors from Warwick Racecourse Parkrun added: "The new bike racks at Warwick Racecourse are close to our start line, making it easier for our  participants to cycle to their Saturday morning 5K.

"Cycling to Parkrun is a  brilliant way to warm up your legs and reduce your carbon footprint, and you  won't need to worry about finding a parking space. We'd love to see more of our  community arriving by bike."
