Warwick District Council is supporting local arts organisations that strengthen communities and improve wellbeing through creativity.

Through its Arts Project Grants programme, residents across the district can access free, high-quality arts activities that are inclusive, engaging and locally delivered.

The Arts Project Grants run annually with summer and winter funding rounds, supporting professional, not-for-profit projects that benefit communities across Warwick District. 

One Arts Project Grant has supported Daniel's Rise, delivered by Leamington-based Helping Hands Community Project, which provides a safe daytime space for vulnerable men. 

In response to participant interest, local artist Jacqui Grove led a 12-week beginner Mosaic Art Workshop for up to 10 men, teaching design and practical mosaic skills.

The project had a positive impact on the participants' confidence, wellbeing, and their work was showcased at Art in the Park.

Cllr Ella Billiald, Warwick District Council's Portfolio Holder for Culture, Arts and Economy commented: "This wonderful programme has created opportunities for those who are vulnerable and sometimes overlooked, to shine, opening many doors. I encourage anyone interested in developing a Community Arts Project to get in touch with our WDC Arts Officer, to discuss ideas and explore how the programme could support them."

Another supported project, Holly's Project by Anjali Dance Company, brought inclusive, disability-led dance into local libraries through workshops and  performances.

The project engaged 15 participants and reached 74 audience members, many experiencing disability dance for the first time. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with audiences describing the work as inspiring and beautiful, and all respondents saying they would like to see more events like it.

Alexandra Henwood, Director of Anjali Dance added: "It has been really enjoyable to work with a council who genuinely values its creative offer in the region. The application system and process was very efficient and clear throughout, and all of the participants said that the workshops had inspired them."

Through the Arts Project Grants programme, Warwick District Council continues to invest in creativity that supports inclusion, skill-building and wellbeing, ensuring arts opportunities are accessible to communities across the district.
