The county council has told locals it is "reviewing" the traffic light set up on Hatton's Birmingham Road to minimise delays for motorists.

Councillors Jan Matecki and Peter Phillips visited the site earlier this month, where works for Taylor Wimpey's near housing estate have begun.

An update from Warwickshire County Council said the councillors visited in the morning between 7.30am and 9.30am to see if any improvements could be made.

"The councillors were particularly interested in the traffic operatives’ role on site and how they were operating the traffic signals to manage traffic levels during peak traffic periods," the update said.

"Following the visit, the traffic management organisation will review the suggestions made and make any adjustments where possible."

The two-way traffic lights are currently set up to prioritise motorists heading to Warwick in the morning, and then away from the town in the afternoon.

The project to widen the road, build a pedestrian crossing point, and to improve footways, cycleways, drainage and street lights were due to begin in October but started at the end of last November.

Last week Warwick District Council's planning committee gave permission for Taylor Wimpey to use its temporary access road for new residents, as works to create the permanent new entrance to the estate will not be finished until the end of the year.
