A community protection notice has been issued by police to Warwickshire Hunt Limited due to its "unreasonable and dangerous" use of the roads.

Warwickshire Rural Crime Team said a warning notice was issued in May 2022 about anti-social use of county roads.

But the force said there had been little change and has now imposed conditions to address the behaviour under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The three-year notice will require the hunt to give police advance notice of events, with details of the times and locations of road crossing points.

The organisation would also need to tell the police who will control dogs during the event, and for the organisation to notify participants about their responsibilities around crossing roads at designated points.

Breaching the conditions will amount to a criminal offence - the rural crime team said.

Warwickshire Hunt Limited has the right of appeal the notice within 21 days.

"We have issued this notice because we're committed to keeping the Warwickshire road network safe," a force statement said.

"We want to prevent criminal behaviour that impacts our communities using our roads safely.

"We encourage anyone who witnesses or is impacted by antisocial use of our roads to contact us so that we can respond.

"Please contact the team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 101."

The news comes just weeks after the hunt hit the headlines after a video of a member repeatedly calling an animal rights protestor "fatty" was shared widely on social media.
