The Co-op has been given the green light to install 151 solar panels on the roof of its Warwick headquarters.

Warwick District Council has agreed the works can be allowed under permitted development rights, and can now go ahead at the Warwick Technology Park site.

Plans from the Midcounties Co-operative show the panels will be arranged in rows on the south roof of Co-Operative House.

Signing off on the plans, a council report said: "There would be minimal views of the proposed solar panels from the surrounding buildings.

"The panels would be situated on an existing flat roof that is situated behind a two storey flat roof element of the application site which would obscure views of the proposed solar panels from the street.

"Solar panels are a common feature within the Technology Park and so will not appear out of keeping with the surrounding development."
