The M40 remains closed around Warwick following a crash this afternoon (September 3).

Emergency services were called to the scene between junctions 15 and 16 at around 5pm.

The road remains shut.

Accident investigations have been completed, National Highways has confirmed.

National Highways said it does not know when the road will reopen.

It said: "Due to a police-led incident, the M40 is now closed. Warwickshire Police are now working on scene and are leading the response to this closure. 

"There is approximately three miles of traffic which is caught within the closure, however police are allowing traffic within the closure past the scene in lane three. 

"We have no estimated time of re-opening at present."
